Other Instruments

Not only did they have harpists in band back in Ancient Egypt but they also had other things. Such as: Harp, lyre, and lute. Oboes, flute, clarinet and rattles, tambourines, castanets, and hand held drums. A lyre was a small stringed instrument. It looked like small U shaped harp. The lute was like a mini guitar.The sistrum was a metallic instrument that was hand held.,the sistrum would be shaken and the hanging pieces of metal or bronze would rattle and make a loud clanging noise.

Other Forms Of Entertainment

They also had other form of entertainment. They had dancers and singers and acrobats too. Most dances were to praise the gods for good harvest. Dancers would also dance at banquets, festivals and funerals. Acrobats would perform their main tricks: turns and somersaults, cartwheels, and backbends. They would ance to love songs that were written on papyrus. Some songs were written in tombs and on temple walls. Yes, men were very capable of stuff but most musicians and dancers were momen. Some dancers were mainly trained when they were young, new dancers were put in groups to be hired.
